Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research – Training

Research Integrity and Security

Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RECR) Training

Mines requires all students and employees involved in research to be trained in the responsible and ethical conduct of research. ALL first year, thesis graduate students and new post docs will complete training in the Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research by the end of their first year at Mines or prior to the beginning of any research.

Any graduate student or post-doc funded by NIH or NSF must fulfill training with an in-person element.

  • Mines credit-bearing course OR
  • CITI training and a workshop

Several courses are available to satisfy this requirement. Workshops are open to anyone engaging in research at Mines.

Research-active faculty, staff, and students who have not taken one of these courses can access this important training through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program (see below). Modules in the online course include topics such as research misconduct, authorship, collaborative research, and conflicts of interest.

Online CITI training – Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research

The Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RECR) course comprises nine modules. You may access, save, and continue on multiple occasions; you do not need to complete all of the modules at one time. Save the certification of completion for your records upon completing the course.
